However, with the right strategies, you can farm millions of Elden Ring runes early in the game, giving you a significant advantage. In this guide, we’ll walk through some of the best rune farming methods available to new players that require little to no combat skill.

1. Head to Mohgwyn Palace (Early Access Method)

Mohgwyn Palace is one of the best locations to farm Elden Ring runes. Normally, it’s a late-game area, but with a specific trick, you can access it early.

To get there, follow these steps:

  • Visit the Third Church of Marika and use the teleporter in the nearby lake to reach Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow.
  • Find White-Faced Varre near the Rose Church in Liurnia and complete his questline.
  • After finishing his tasks, he’ll give you the Pureblood Knight’s Medal, which teleports you straight to Mohgwyn Palace.

2. Use the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot

To maximize your rune gains, use a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot before farming. This consumable boosts the number of Elden Ring runes you earn from defeated enemies for a limited time. You can craft these or find them in the open world. Stack it with other buffs to get even more out of each farming run.

3. Farm Albinaurics at Palace Approach Ledge-Road

After reaching Mohgwyn Palace, activate the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace. This area has a large group of Albinauric enemies who drop a lot of runes and are weak to physical damage. With an AoE weapon or spell, you can clear them quickly and earn hundreds of thousands of runes in just minutes.

4. Kill Greyoll the Sleeping Dragon

If you want a one-time huge boost of Elden Ring runes early on, head to Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow and defeat the giant sleeping dragon. Use a bleed weapon like the Reduvia dagger and stack it with a mimic or spirit summon. This dragon doesn’t fight back, so you can safely whittle it down. Once it dies, you’ll earn around 75,000 runes (or more with buffs), and nearby dragons also die, adding even more.

5. Co-op Farming with Friends

Joining other players’ worlds through co-op is another safe way to farm Elden Ring runes. Help others defeat bosses or clear dungeons, and you’ll earn a portion of the runes without risking your own. This is especially effective if your friends are tackling higher-level content while you play as a phantom.
