Elementalist Profession Guide

Elementalist

For those who had played in Guild Wars, you know that elementalists are the benders of nature’s forces. They are the ones who melt away your health as they pound away at their foes with sheer power. By controlling the elements of fire, air, earth, water and arcane they work to control the fields of war. Of course they do not always have to be full out damage dealing monsters, elementalists can vary in combat style since each element is meant for different rolls.

Elementalists make up one of the three scholar professions in Guild wars 2. Being that they are very powerful, their defense consists of only light armor to keep them from being over powered. Of course just like mentioned above, they aren’t restricted to only one aspect of battle. They have an attunement system that allows them to access other elements to play other parts. Unlike other classes, elementalists are unable to switch weapon sets during battle to add diversity, so to make up for that they are capable of flipping between the four accessible elements hot-keyed to the F1, F2, F3 and F4 keys. Each of course has its own purpose.

Because of the  comlexity, and because their is simply so much in GW2 to cover about all classes, i like to use a convenient GW2 guide. In my opinion, i use the GW2 Domination guide, because it contains the best information about the GW2 classes. It includes awesome builds, catering to each playstyle (An awesome Plus). Not to mention it also includes crafting, PvP builds, Leveling Guides, and a whole bunch more stuff.

Introduction to Structured PvP

GW2-logostructuredpv

Overview

The Structured PvP in Guild Wars 2 is some of the best PvP I have ever played. It’s equal to, and even better than World of Warcrafts. The main difference between these two games, however, is that in Guild Wars 2, no matter your level, you will always be upgraded to the max level cap, with the appropriate equipment. This allows the sPvP system in GW2 to expand more upon skill level than the amount of time one spent within a game.

To start in sPvP, a character has to join the lobby-like area, referred to as the “mists”. Here, you may add on the appropriate equipment, skills, and items, while practicing against test-dummies (AI) or real players.  To get to the mists, you can press the “mists hotkey” (currently H unless you changed it) when you enter, the level cap will be automatically boosted to 80, or the current maximum in the game. All the character skills are unlocked, appropriate armor is had (and can be changed at the merchants within the mists if you so please, for free), and your character is free to explore the level 80 plunder that he can so enjoy until he has to inevitably join the real GW2 world again.

World versus World Activities Overview

WvWactivitiesFeature

When it comes to world versus, people usually think “Probably need a guild or some form of organized group to get anything done”. This is completely false being that in Guild Wars 2 pvp you can both be in a group AND play alone while still being effective to the victory of your team. We aren’t talking about telling you a secret on how to take down a whole keep by yourself but small things that add up to the overall picture.

BTW im typing this as Hurricane Sandy is threatening to rip off my roof. (video game dedication FTW). Sorry for any typos.

Supply Camp Harassment:

When it comes to large keeps or forts, players require supply to keep a firm hold on the location which involves constructing new siege weapons and repairing the weapons plus the gate/wall. Supple camps send constant dolyaks to these locations to help garrison. Attacking locations works just about the same except the attacking army usually does more destruction than actual repair. The supply camps are scattered across the map in so many locations making it simple to choose a target. If you are a high level and know how to pick NPC target off one by one (or are amazing at juking) a supply camp can be taken by a single person. It time is of the essence a small band of 4-6 random people can take the camp pretty quickly. These small points can have a large impact on the outcome of a larger battle. Besides this activity, the following ones should be easy for fairly small groups to complete without

MapleStory Sneak Peek: New Dawn Update

It’s going to be a brand-new day for MapleStory when the New Dawn update goes live in early September. If you can’t wait that long, here below have got a little treat for you: a video preview of Mihile, who previously served as an NPC and can be played in the update. Players will be able to explore Mihile and find out how he became the Knight of Light — and investigate his abilities in the process.

MapleStory New Dawn

Mihile uses a one-handed sword and a special shield known as the Soul Shield. Unlike other shields, this one improves as Mihile does, earning an upgrade with each advancement and leveling up as it gains experience. That gives Mihile a defensive bulwark from the start of his career all the way to the apex. Check out the preview past the cut, and keep your eyes peeled for more information before the update in early September.

MapleStory: Great Maple Election Quest 2012

Nexon America announced the results from its first ever presidential poll called Great Maple Election Quest 2012. Barack Obama is preferred over Mitt Romney by 80 percent of those participating in this survey.

The poll is a small part of a major event currently being held in MapleStory. The Great Maple Election Quest 2012 will include additional player polls, and will also include wide-ranging in-game election events running up to Election Day on Nov. 6. Additionally, MapleStory has partnered with Rock The Vote to encourage players to register to vote and participate in the real presidential election.

Any registered MapleStory player in Nexon America’s service could participate in the survey. Those who participated in the poll will receive an in-game item, called the “Buff Freezer.”

“It is exciting to see our players voice their position on something as important as a presidential election,” said Min Kim, Nexon America CEO. “Our players represent a very important voting block. This event in MapleStory gives our players an outlet to have their voices heard, in and out of the game, while providing an avenue for them register and become part of the election process.”

Rise up to Justice in MapleSEA!

Asiasoft Online announces the official launch of Justice content update. It is a much anticipated patch featuring two new classes, ZEN and Phantom, major revamp to the Thief and Pirate classes, as well as a new quest to liberate a new world called Azwan, among many others.

“The Justice content update has been the talk of town among MapleSEA gamers for months, as they have been waiting for its arrival. Many players have been looking forward to the arrival of Phantom, the new thief based class who utilises the powers of the cane and card.” Mr Sherman Tan, Chairman of Asiasoft Online. “Also, another major content that the gamers have been looking forward to is the major revamp of the Thief and Pirate class. With most of the other explorer classes who went through major revamps in the past content updates, now it the time for the Thief and Pirate classes to shine and show off their true prowess in the game.”

More Than 200,000 MapleStory Players Complete In-game Quests to Raise Money for Charity: Water

Nexon America has donated $10,000 to charity: water’s September campaign to benefit Rwanda after more than 200,000 MapleStory players completed in-game quests to raise money for this cause

During the last week of September and the first week of October, MapleStory hosted two in-game quests that were designed to engage users to learn about the importance of clean water and to allow them to show their support of the charity: water efforts in Rwanda. In the first quest, MapleStory players collected water droplets from monsters, while in the second quest, players were tasked with carrying a container of water for 30 minutes while in-game. Each completion of either quest helped contribute to fill a water gauge monitoring the total donation to be made to charity: water.

“Over 200,000 MapleStory players have completed in-game quests to support charity: water’s efforts in Rwanda,” said MapleStory producer, Yoonjin Kim. “Our players have shown that they care about the world, and that makes us very proud.”

Karma Koin, a Nexon America product, has recently announced a $250,000 pledge to charity: water. Nexon America’s $10,000 donation through MapleStory is separate and complementary to Karma Koin’s pledge made last month.

Layoffs hit NCsoft as firm undergoes ‘realignment’

Guild Wars 2 publisher NCsoft has laid off several staff as part of a studio “realignment”, it has confirmed.Guild Wars 2 Screenshot

The firm’s PR director Lincoln Davis confirmed the news to PC Gamer, revealing that “several” staff had been cut at the Seattle-based studio, but stopped short of revealing specific numbers.”NCsoft is realigning internal publishing resources to better suit the needs of our game development studios,” said Davis. “As a result of the realignment, several employees and contract positions were affected. This was a very tough decision to make and wish the best for all NCsoft employees in their next ventures.”

The news comes one year after NCsoft issued redundancies across studios in Seattle, Austin and Brighton.

It’s unclear how the latest round of layoffs may impact Guild Wars 2 – if at all – which itself was the target of hacker attacks back in September 2012.

Hackers stole “lists of email addresses and passwords from other games and web sites and are systematically testing Guild Wars 2 looking for matching accounts,” said the developer at the time.

Cryptic Developers Reveal Neverwinter’s Character Customization

Cryptic games have always been known for its powerful character customization tools such as evident in Star Trek Online. Even greater will this ring true for Perfect World and Cryptic’s upcoming Dungeons & Dragons action MMORPG, Neverwinter. Today, I am pleased to reveal the developer journal about Neverwinter’s character customization when a player steps into the Forgotten Realms.

In Neverwinter, character creation begins with choosing a race, class, and gender combo. Each race comes with unique racial abilities, which grants some bonuses to core stats — strength, constitution, and more. These racial abilities allow players to fully customize their play style. Furthermore, stats are also customizable, both through your choice of race and through rolling.

Create a sharp looking avatar with a large scale of options to customize physical appearance. There will be an option to choose from several preset looks or individually fine-tune each facet of your character – slim or lengthen hands, change shape and complexion, add height, show battle scars or tattoos, and much more.
